She is a part of the Women's Texas Golf Association. Garcia attended Texas Christain University after graduating the high school in about three years. She then moved to University of Texas. Angela Akin Garcia was a fantastic golfer but never imagined pursuing a career in golf. Her choice was to study journalism instead. Following her graduation her degree, she was employed as a Fox Sports Southwest reporter.
